Designing the Engine Behind In-Flight Service – Netta Architects is leading the design of a new 211,832-square-foot American Airlines catering facility at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. Located on a 21.56-acre site, the two-story facility is designed to support 24-hour food preparation, assembly, storage, and distribution operations.
The facility will include commercial kitchens, refrigerated and dry storage, dishwashing areas, loading docks, receiving zones, waste and recycling facilities, employee amenities, administrative offices, and a dedicated customer suite for menu presentations and food reviews. An automated storage and retrieval system will further improve inventory management and operational efficiency.
Netta Architects is coordinating a comprehensive consultant team covering civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, security, communications, lighting, environmental, geotechnical, and food-service design.

Solution
Netta Architects developed an integrated design that organizes each operational function around an efficient production and logistics workflow. The design incorporates dedicated loading areas, refrigerated storage, food-preparation spaces, and an automated storage and retrieval system. Netta also leads a multidisciplinary consultant team to coordinate the building, site, security, utilities, and specialized food-service systems.
